Prof. Dr. Sri Widowati, MAppSc.

Sri Widowati was born in Magelang on November 1959, obtained a bachelor’s degree (S1) from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Gadjah Mada University (1983), and Master degree (S2) in Food Technology from The University of New South Wales, Australia (1990). Doctoral degree in Food Science was obtained from IPB University (2007). Her areas of expertise include Postharvest Technology, especially vegetable food technology, functional foods, and food diversification. On December 31, 2013, she had the opportunity to be inaugurated a research professor with a speech topic, i.e. “Innovation of Carbohydrate-Based Functional Food Technology for Improving Community Nutrition”, and became the 115th research professor of Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development or the 426th National level

She started her career as a researcher at the Sukamandi Food Crops Research Institute (now the Indonesian Rice Research Center) from 1984 to 1993, then moved to the Bogor Food Crops Research Institute which later became the Indonesian Center for Agricultural  Biotechnology and Genetic Resources (1993-2001), She is currently a researcher at the Indonesian Center for Agricultural Postharvest Research and Development. (ICAPRD). Managerial experience as Head of Program and Evaluation of ICAPRD in 2012-2017, and Deputy Top Manager of Postharvest Testing Laboratory in 2017-2022.More than 200 scientific papers have been produced and published in journals, bulletins, books and semi-popular magazines. In addition to research activities, Sri Widowati also has experience as a member of the Editorial Board of Scientific Journals, peer reviewer of scientific publications and  research activities.

She has experience as Chairman of the Jury for Student Skills Competition–National Vocational High School in the field of Food Processing Technology (2005-2022), and active in professional organizations, such as Indonesian Food Technology Experts Association, Indonesian Microbiology Association, and Indonesian Researchers Union. She has attended training on Genetic Evaluation and Utilization followed by individual training at the Biochemistry Department-IRRI, Extrusion Technology at the Korean Food Research Institute, South Korea; Bioindustry in Japan; Scientific Exchange in Taiwan, and  FoodStart+ Annual Partners’ Meeting in Vietnam, Philippines and India. Sri Widowati has seven patents granted and four are registered. Patents that have been licensed or commercialized include Rice with a Low Glycemic Index, and Instant Rice. Based on her dedication and role, she received the Food Security Award (2007), the Most Prospective Innovation Award (2011), the Agroinnovation Award (2011), the Extraordinary Intellectual Property Award (2014) and the Satyalancana Karya Satya XX and XXX years.
