On Friday, October 10, 2025, two APPERTANI experts, Prof. Achmad Suryana and Assoc. Prof. Haryono, served as resource persons at a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the theme “Accelerating Agricultural Modernization to Support Food Self-Sufficiency” organized by the Agency for Agricultural Assembly and Modernization (BRMP) at the Sahira Hotel, Bogor.

This FGD was attended by various parties, including BRIN, BRMP, APPERTANI, IRRI, universities, and others. The keyword of the meeting was how to accelerate agricultural modernization, which is the task and function of BRMP. On this occasion, Prof. Achmad Suryana presented the topic “Institutional Strengthening and Inter-Sectoral Support for Food Self-Sufficiency” and Assoc. Prof. Haryono presented the topic “Agricultural Digitalization as a Pillar of Modernization Towards National Food Self-Sufficiency”. In addition to speakers from APPERTANI, Dr. Inez S Loedin (IRRI Los Banos, Philippines) also presented on the topic of “Innovation and Efficiency in Food Crop Production through Modernization and Mechanization”; Dr. Jelfina C. Alouw (Executive Director, International Coconut Community/BRIN researcher) with the topic “Modernization of Production Systems and Downstreaming of Plantations to Increase Added Value and Global Competitiveness”; Prof. Dr. Sobir (Professor at IPB University) with the topic “Modernization of Horticultural Production to Support Self-Sufficiency in Quality Fruits and Vegetables”; and Dr. Bess Trisnamurti (representing the Head of the BRIN Animal Husbandry Center) with the topic “Transformation of Modern Animal Husbandry Systems in Supporting the Availability of Animal Protein Food”. All speakers presented various recent innovations related to agricultural modernization. The discussion was quite lively, and in principle, the attendees agreed that BRMP is a highly competent institution in accelerating the realization of agricultural modernization with support and cooperation.
