Prof. Dr. Atien Priyanti

Atien Priyanti, born in Bogor in May 1960, and married to Ir. Agus Suwignyo has one son.

Completed Elementary and Junior School in Bogor, followed by Senior High School at Stella Duce High School, Yogyakarta. Obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Gadjah Mada University in 1984; Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, the USA, in 1993; and Doctoral Degree in Agricultural Economics from IPB University in 2007. Currently affiliated with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) as a senior researcher after more than 30 years of work at the Indonesian Agency of Agricultural Research and Development, Ministry of Agriculture. Prof (R) was inaugurated on January 28, 2022, and is the 632nd Professor nationally and 161st at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The functional position started as Associate Research Assistant in 1995 and continued until it reached a senior researcher in 2014. The structural position began as Head of the Sub-Division of Research Cooperation at the Indonesian Center for Animal Research and Development (ICARD) in 1998-2005 and became Director of ICARD in 2017-2020. Participated in several trainings related to my field of competence, including Training on Developing, Marketing, and Writing Research Project Grant Proposals in Winrock International, Arkansas, the USA in 1992; Training on On-Farm Evaluation and Impact Assessment of Technological Options in Crop-Animal Systems in Khon Kaen University, Thailand in 2001; Training on Social Science Concepts and Tools: Research Evaluation and Impact Assessment at Los Banos in 2009; Training on Analyst Level Gender Responsive Policy Research Methodology in IPB University in 2010; Socio-Economic Research Methods, the University of Queensland-ACIAR in 2012; Capacity building for Research: Promoting Inclusive Development of Agricultural Value Chains, PERHEPI-ACIAR in 2013; and Building Policy Capacity towards Sustainable Livestock Sector Development, FAO-RAP in 2015.

Has produced 138 scientific papers written by myself or with other authors in the form of books, journals, and proceedings, of which 50 are in English. Prof (R)’s book of Inauguration Oration entitled “Application of bio-economy in the agricultural sector in realizing feed self-reliance”.            Participate in developing junior scientists as supervisors for functional research positions, student supervisors (S2 and S3), and dissertation examiners (S2 and S3) at IPB University.

Active in professional organizations, namely the Executive Board of the Indonesian Society of Animal Science (PB-ISPI), Deputy Chair of the Agricultural Economics Association (PERHEPI) Bogor, Second Chairman of the Indonesian Researcher Union (PPI) Bogor, and a member of the Indonesian Scientific Editors Association (HEBII).

Received the Outstanding Minority Student Award from the University of Arkansas in 1990; Satyalancana Karya Satya X Years in 2001 and Satyalancana Karya Satya XX Years in 2010 from the President of the Republic of Indonesia; and Young Researcher Award in 2002 from the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia.
