Prof. Dr. Ismeth Inounu, MS

Prof. (Riset). Dr. Ismeth Inounu, MS is a principal investigator in Livestock Breeding and Genetics.  Formerly working in a research group at the Center for Livestock Research and Development.  Currently, he is joining the National Body of Research and Innovation. Ismeth obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Pajajaran University Bandung, in 1980, then received a Master of Science degree in Animal Science from the Bogor Agricultural Institute in 1991, and obtained a Doctorate in Animal Science from the Bogor Agricultural Institute in 1996.

Ismeth was appointed as Principal Investigator on September 1, 2009.  On December 30, 2010, he was inaugurated as a Research Professor after delivering the Inaugural oration of the Research Professor entitled: Formation of Composite Sheep through Cross Breeding Technology to Improve the Genetic Quality of Local Sheep; He is the 86th Research Professor of the Agency of Agricultural Research and Development or the 310th at National level. During his time as a researcher, Ismeth has produced 107 (one hundred and seven) scientific papers written by himself or with co-authors in the form of books, journals, proceedings, and articles published in the Indonesian language and 41 (forty-one) in English.

Apart from being a researcher concerned, he has also been a structural official, among others, as Head of Service at the Research Center for Research and Development of Animal Husbandry (1999-2004); Head of Program and Evaluation at the Center for Research and Development of Animal Husbandry (2004-2005), as well as concurrently as Head of Balai Ad.interim of Indonesian Research Institute for Animal Production (for four months, in 2005), and in 2005-2006 as Head of the Indonesian Centre for Animal Research and Development.

His international collaboration was with the Small Ruminant Collaborative Research Support Program (SR-CRSP) of the University of California Davis USA 1981-1995 in Indonesian prolific sheep breeding.  Furthermore, with the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) Australia in 2002 in the field of Strategies to increase Bali cattle production in Indonesia.  In 2003 he collaborated with the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Area (ICARDA) in the field of Increasing sheep productivity in Uzbekistan.  In 2005 it was still with ICARDA in the field of Increasing milk production of Sicilo Sarde sheep in Tunisia.  Besides his activities as a researcher, Ismeth is also active in professional organizations as a member of the Indonesian Societies of Animal Sciences, member of the Indonesian Breeding Science Association, and member of the Indonesian Sheep and Goat Breeders Association.

From his service in research and development of science and technology, he was awarded an award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Satyalancana Wirakarya (President Megawati Soekarno Puteri), Satyalancana Karya Satya XX (President Bambang S Yudhoyono), and Satyalancana Karya Satya XXX (President Joko Widodo). Some of the Intellectual Property Rights obtained through their research activities include:
