Ir. Achmad Rachman, M.Sc., Ph.D earned his BS (Ir) from Hasanuddin University-Makassar, M.Sc and Ph.D degrees from the Department of Soil and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Missouri-USA in 2004 with dissertation title “Influence of Grass Hedges on Soil Hydraulic Conductivities, Runoff and Soil Erosion in a Small Watershed”. He has more than 20 years’ experience in farming systems research and in soil and water conservation on upland areas. He has published a number of articles in national and international journals and a speaker in a number of national and international seminars/conferences. He led the Indonesian Soil Research Institute from 2005 to 2009, the Indonesian Peatland Agricultural Research Institute in 2009-2010 and an Agricultural Attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC from 2010 to 2014. After retiring as a researcher in late 2018, he has worked in a sugar cane plantation and sugar factory as a quality assurance manager then a Technical Expert at the Directorate General of Village Government Development, Ministry of Home Affairs. He is currently as the Executive Director of the Indonesian Cassava Society.
