Agricultural Socio-economic
PROF. Dr. ERWIDODO, MS is a Professor (Research) of agricultural economics and a senior researcher at the Indonesian Centre for Agricultural Socio-Economics and Policy Studies (ICASEPS), Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia.
Between 2008 and 2012, he was an Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the UN, WTO, and other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland. He was elected as the Chairman of the Committee for Trade and Development (CTD) in 2010 and the Chairman of the Council for Trade in Services (CTS) of the WTO in 2011.
In 2005-2008, he was a Director-General of Trade Research and m Development Agency (TREDA), Ministry of Trade. During this period, he had been assigned as the Vice Chairman of the National Tariff Team and the Vice Chairman of the Agricultural Negotiating Team of the National Team for International Trade Negotiation.
In 1999-2001, he was the Director of the Centre for Social Economic Research on Forestry and Estate Crops, Ministry of Forestry, and Estate Crops. Before his services in the Ministry of Forestry and Estate Crops, he was the Deputy Director of the Centre for Agro-Socioeconomic Research (CASER), Ministry of Agriculture.
Besides working as a public servant in the Ministries, he has been a lecturer in the Graduate school of the Bogor Agricultural University. In 1997-2007, he taught welfare economics, trade, and macro-economic policies, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies. From 2013 to the present, he has taught on international trade of the graduate program at the Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University. He has served as an adviser to master and doctoral students at IPB University, the University of Padjajaran, and the University of Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Erwidodo received his BS-degree in Forest Management in 1978 and MS-degree in Natural Resource Economics in 1981 from Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia, and in 1990 awarded his Ph.D. degree in agricultural economics from Michigan State University, USA.
