Animal Husbandry
Subandriyo, born in Kudus, Central Java, July 26, 1950. He obtained a PhD in Animal Science in 1990 with a specialization in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the Department of Animal Science of the University of Missouri Columbia, Columbia, MO, USA. Since 1977 he has been working as a researcher at the Animal Research Institute (LPP), Bogor, which was later renamed to the Livestock Research Institute (Balitnak) which is currently retired on August 1, 2015. On October 2, 2003, he was confirmed as the Main Researcher Expert in the field of Ruminant Breeding Expertise, by delivering a Scientific Oration entitled: “Expanding the Potential of Thin Tail Sheep Germplasm and Improving Genetic Quality Through Crossing”.
The title of Research Professor was awarded on January 5, 2006. Subandriyo is listed as the 16th Research Professor of the Ministry of Agriculture or the 79th at the national level. Related to his profession, Subandriyo is active in several research activities, among others, playing a role in researching the FecJ gene for thin-tailed sheep, thin-tailed sheep resistance to Fasciola gigantica, as well as in determining new breeds of Compas Agrinak and Bahtera Agrinak sheep.
Other scientific activities he has carried out are as chairman of the editorial board, member of the editorial board, reviewer partner of several scientific periodicals, including: Wartazoa, Journal of Animal and Veterinary Science, Germplasm Bulletin, Journal of Tropical Agriculture Development and Animal Husbandry Media. In addition, he has served as chairman of the Research Assessment Team of the Ministry of Agriculture, Member of the National Commission on Genetic Resources, Member of the Technical Team for Biosafety and Food Safety in the Environmental Sector, Member of the Assessment Committee for the Scientific Periodic Magazine of LIPI, as well as the Technical Team for Determination and Release of Clumps, Strains Cattle.
